Herbology: Violets

ImageIn college, I worked part-time at a greenhouse and flower shop. Today, I will give you a brief lesson in caring for VIOLETS!

African violets are a common small houseplant with leaves that are thick and often look a bit furry.

Always pick out dead leaves, especially with violets, they get mushy fast.

And most importantly, violets prefer to soak up water. If you water it from the top, the water will often go straight through and not nourish the plant. If you don’t have a pot that allows you to add water to the bottom, simply put a plate or bowl of water under the plant every 2-3 days. The violet will soak it up in no time!
